Living Vengeance
On kill or assist, Varus temporarily gains Attack Damage and Ability Power. This bonus is larger if the enemy is a champion.
the Arrow of Retribution
Varus is one of the most flexible marksmen in League of Legends, playable as a traditional ADC in the bot lane or as a poke-oriented mid laner. Tagged both Marksman and Mage, he supports two distinct builds: an on-hit attack-speed style built around his W, and a lethality poke style built around charged arrows. His low difficulty rating makes him approachable, yet his ceiling scales with skillshot accuracy.
The core of his kit is Blighted Quiver: basic attacks apply Blight stacks that deal bonus magic damage, and any of his other abilities detonate those stacks for damage based on the target’s maximum health. This creates a natural weave — three attacks, then Piercing Arrow or Hail of Arrows to pop the stacks. Piercing Arrow itself gains range and damage the longer Varus charges it, making him a genuine artillery threat, while Hail of Arrows desecrates the ground, slowing enemies and cutting their healing, which is invaluable against sustain-heavy compositions.
Chain of Corruption gives Varus rare utility for a marksman: a tendril that roots the first champion hit and then spreads to nearby enemies, capable of locking down multiple targets and starting or reversing entire fights. Living Vengeance rewards takedowns with temporary Attack Damage and Ability Power, letting him snowball skirmishes once a fight tips his way.
His trade-off is the classic immobile-carry weakness — no dash, no escape — so positioning discipline matters. Varus appeals to players who like siege pressure, long-range poke, and the option to reinvent their build path game to game.
P
On kill or assist, Varus temporarily gains Attack Damage and Ability Power. This bonus is larger if the enemy is a champion.
Q
Varus readies and then fires a powerful shot that gains extra range and damage the longer he spends preparing to fire.
W
Passive: Varus' basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and apply Blight. Varus' other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage based on the target's maximum Health. Active: Varus empowers his next Piercing Arrow.
E
Varus fires a hail of arrows that deal physical damage and desecrate the ground. Desecrated ground slows enemies' Move Speed and reduces their self healing and regeneration.
R
Varus flings out a damaging tendril of corruption that immobilizes the first enemy champion hit and then spreads towards nearby uninfected champions, immobilizing them too on contact.
