Brand is a burst mage built around a single mechanic: setting enemies ablaze and then punishing them for it. His passive, Blaze, causes every spell to ignite targets with stacking damage over time, and each of his other abilities gains a bonus effect against burning enemies. That interaction turns his rotation order into a genuine skill expression — the same four buttons produce very different results depending on the sequence.
Played mid or, more commonly today, support, Brand thrives in extended skirmishes and objective fights where enemies clump together. Pillar of Flame is his bread-and-butter area nuke, dealing 25% extra damage to ablaze targets, while Conflagration spreads to nearby enemies, with doubled spread if the target burns. Landing either first turns Sear, otherwise a plain fireball, into a reliable stun.
His ultimate, Pyroclasm, bounces up to five times between Brand and nearby enemies and prioritizes stacking Blaze to maximum on champions, making it devastating in two-versus-two lane brawls and chaotic teamfights alike. Reaching max Blaze stacks on champions or large monsters triggers additional punishment, so his damage output scales with how long a fight lasts.
Brand’s weaknesses are written into his kit: no dashes, no shields, no peel beyond one conditional stun. He must position carefully and win through range and rotation discipline. Players who enjoy combo-ordering puzzles and watching entire teams burn down from area damage — while accepting that a single gap-closer can end them — get the most out of him.
