Mark of the Storm
Kennen stuns enemies he hits 3 times with his abilities.
the Heart of the Tempest
Kennen is an energy-based mage played in the mid lane whose entire kit revolves around one mechanic: Mark of the Storm. Every ability he lands applies a mark, and any enemy who collects three of them is stunned. Because Kennen uses energy rather than mana, he never runs out of resources in lane, letting him trade constantly with Thundering Shuriken, a fast skillshot that pokes and marks at the same time.
Electrical Surge doubles down on the marking game — it passively adds a mark every few basic attacks and can be activated to zap anyone already carrying one, accelerating the countdown to a stun. Lightning Rush turns Kennen into a bolt of living lightning that passes through units, applying yet another mark on contact while granting move speed on entry and attack speed on exit. The result is a champion who can chain his own crowd control without any hard-CC button in the traditional sense.
Slicing Maelstrom is where everything comes together. Kennen dives into a clustered enemy team, and the storm repeatedly strikes nearby champions, stacking marks on everyone at once — a well-positioned ultimate can stun three or four opponents in sequence. With a moderate difficulty rating of 4, he suits players who want teamfight-deciding impact and relentless lane pressure without an overly technical kit. His main tradeoff is squishiness: diving in with Lightning Rush commits him fully, so timing and target selection decide whether he wins the fight or simply dies in the middle of it.
