What Master Means

Master is the first apex tier of the League of Legends ladder, sitting above Diamond I. Unlike the standard tiers, Master has no IV–I divisions — from here upward, your rank is your LP total on a live regional ladder, and the climb becomes a race rather than a series of checkpoints.

Reaching Master places a player among the strongest on their server. Games at this level look closer to organized play: lane assignments are respected, objectives are set up a minute in advance, and mistakes are punished immediately. Progression toward Grandmaster is about accumulating LP against the best, so consistency across many games — same role, same champion pool, stable mental — is what defines successful Master players. Exact thresholds around apex ranks can vary by region and season.

Keep the pool small Two or three champions per role — mastery beats variety, and it can help improve consistency.
