What Grandmaster Means
Grandmaster is the second apex tier, positioned between Master and Challenger. Like all apex ranks it has no standard divisions — entry and position are determined by LP on the regional ladder, and the exact requirements can vary by region and season.
Grandmaster is contested space: players here are actively fighting for a limited set of ladder spots, and holding the rank means defending it every day against Master players pushing up and Challenger hopefuls grinding LP. The level of play is semi-professional — many Grandmaster players are on the radar of esports teams, and the gap to casual ranked is enormous. At this height, marginal advantages like perfect matchup preparation and patch-day adaptation decide careers.
