What Emerald Means
Emerald is the sixth tier of the ranked ladder, introduced between Platinum and Diamond to smooth the jump between them. It uses the standard four divisions, from Emerald IV to Emerald I, and represents a clearly above-average level of play.
Games in Emerald are faster and more punishing than below: misplayed waves turn into lost plates, and skipped vision turns into lost objectives. The climb here rewards players who study the game between matches — reviewing losses, following the meta through patch notes and tier lists, and refining a small pool of champions until their matchups feel automatic. Emerald is the proving ground before the hard ceiling of Diamond.
