Veigar in the mid lane is all about scaling into a late-game threat, and his current numbers back that plan up nicely: a 51.1% winrate on a 3.01% pickrate as of patch 16.13.1. He’s also seen occasional play in the adc role according to the lane data. First Strike suits his poke-and-punish playstyle, rewarding damage dealt before the enemy can retaliate.
His build starts with Tear of the Goddess before transitioning into Rod of Ages and Seraph’s Embrace, stacking mana and ability power in tandem.
