Team OP
South Korea KOREAAbout Team OP
Team OP was a South Korean League of Legends organisation that formed part of the competitive landscape connected to the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), the nation’s flagship professional league. The team is no longer operational and now belongs to the roll of former sides that once populated one of the most demanding esports environments in the world.
A Product of the Korean Scene
The rise of League of Legends in South Korea created fertile ground for numerous organisations, and Team OP was among them. The country’s competitive infrastructure has long been built on depth — a vast base of aspiring players filtering upward through tiered competition — and teams like Team OP contributed to that structure while striving to make their mark against elite opposition.
Competing in Korea
The LCK enjoys a reputation as one of the premier regional leagues globally, admired for its disciplined, macro-focused gameplay and its history of producing internationally successful teams. The bar for success within the Korean system is exceptionally high, and only a select group of organisations reach and sustain top-flight status. Team OP navigated this challenging setting before ultimately disbanding.
Following its dissolution, the organisation stopped fielding a roster and its players moved on within the scene. This kind of turnover is characteristic of Korean esports, where the competitive hierarchy is fluid and organisations regularly emerge, transform or fade away.
While Team OP is no longer active, its name survives in the archives of the region’s history. It represents one of the many squads that made up the rich and competitive tapestry of Korean League of Legends — a scene whose relentless standards continue to shape the global game.
