About Los Ratones
Los Ratones was a European League of Legends project associated with the League of Legends EMEA Championship ecosystem, registered under a United Kingdom banner and built around a roster of well-known Western European talent. The name, Spanish for “the mice,” reflected the playful, personality-driven spirit that surrounded the venture, which drew unusually heavy attention for a team of its scale before ceasing operations.
A Roster of Recognisable Names
What set Los Ratones apart was its lineup. The team brought together Baus in the top lane, Velja in the jungle, Nemesis in the mid lane, and a bottom-lane pairing of Crownie and the veteran marksman Rekkles. Rekkles in particular is one of the most celebrated players in European League of Legends history, and assembling him alongside other established and popular figures gave the project immediate credibility and a large built-in audience drawn from the players’ individual followings.
Competing Within the EMEA Scene
The EMEA region, governed at its peak by the LEC, is one of the four major territories in global League of Legends. Beneath and around the top league sits a dense network of regional and exhibition competition, and community-driven or star-studded projects like Los Ratones occupy a distinctive niche, blending high-level play with entertainment value. That combination allowed the team to generate viewership and conversation well beyond what its formal standing alone might suggest.
The presence of players with deep competitive resumes meant Los Ratones could contest matches at a genuinely high standard, marrying mechanical pedigree with the loose, expressive style that made its members popular streamers and personalities in the first place. It was, in many ways, a demonstration of how far individual brand power has come in modern European esports.
Now disbanded, Los Ratones is remembered as a memorable experiment in star-driven team building within EMEA League of Legends. Its short existence underscored the pull that charismatic veterans like Rekkles still command, and it leaves behind a legacy defined less by trophies than by the enthusiasm and attention it concentrated around a single, unusually beloved roster.
