Flex Queue in League of Legends

The team-oriented ranked queue with its own separate rank.

Overview

Flex is the team-oriented ranked queue of League of Legends. Where Solo/Duo restricts you to playing alone or with one partner, Flex allows premade groups — making it the ranked home for teams of friends, clash rosters warming up, and players who prefer coordinated play over solo carrying.

Flex maintains its own completely separate rank: your Flex tier can sit above or below your Solo/Duo tier, and progress in one queue does not move the other. The queue has a reputation for being more chaotic at some hours and more organized at others, because full premade teams and mixed groups share the same ladder. Communication is the defining skill here — the queue rewards teams that set up objectives together and fight as five.

The climbing toolkit is the same as everywhere in ranked: strong meta champions from the tier list, current builds, and matchup preparation. If you mainly play with a group, Flex is where that coordination converts most directly into LP.

Climbing in Ranked

Keep the pool small Two or three champions per role — mastery beats variety, and it can help improve consistency.
Use the tier list Check which champions are statistically strong on the current patch before you queue. Know your matchups A minute in counters before lane tells you when to trade and when to survive. Track the patch Buffs and nerfs shift lanes every cycle — patch notes keep your picks honest.
Play consistent roles One main role builds pattern recognition faster than filling every game.
Review your losses One avoidable death or skipped objective per game is often the whole climb.
