A tier list is one of the most useful — and most misused — tools in League of Legends. Used well, it points you toward strong, current picks; used badly, it makes you spam champions you cannot play. This guide explains how to read the VPEsports tier list by role and turn it into better decisions.

What the Tiers Measure

Our tier list ranks champions by real performance on the current patch, computed from win rate, pick rate and sample size. A higher tier means a champion is performing well across many games right now — not that it will win your game automatically.

Read the List by Role

Champions are ranked within their role, because a pick that is strong mid may be weak elsewhere. Open the role you play — for example the mid lane tier list or support tier list — and treat the top tiers as a shortlist, not a command.

When Comfort Beats a Higher Tier

A champion you play well almost always beats a higher-tier champion you have barely touched. Tier differences within the top few tiers are small compared with the gap between mastery and inexperience. Use the list to find picks worth learning, then commit long enough to actually master them.

Combine It With Other Tools

The tier list is a starting point. From a champion you like, open its build for the current setup and its counters for matchups. Our climbing guide ties all of these together into a plan.

Practical Tips

  • Open the tier list for your role, not the whole game.
  • Treat top tiers as a shortlist of picks worth learning.
  • Prioritise a champion you can play over a slightly higher-tier one you cannot.
  • Pair the list with each champion’s build and counters.
